he: why arent any of your candles lit
she:a big wind came and blew them all out
he: oh
she: do you have any matches?
he: yeah why?
she: i thought maybe we could light them again
he: together
she: well you could help
...
...
she: only if you want to
he: can i think about it
she: sure
he sits down next to her
they wait
in darkness
she: so how long do you think youre going to need?
he: i dont know
she: ok, well will you let me know when youre ready
he: sure
they wait some more
and more
and more

Probably over analyzing but whatevs.
What I find most interesting about this is the use of punctuation (hear me out! haha). The fact that you DO indicate questions with a question mark, tells me that it is a conscious stylistic choice to have his line "Together" come off as a statement rather than a question. Could be read either way, but the intentions change dramatically.
I like the idea of it being a statement and him bringing up the idea of them being together. Then suddenly he backs down.
How true is that for our everyday life. The minute we get something with someone we want- we get concerned.
Perhaps it was more comforting thinking that there could be a chance versus the idea of getting hurt.
I also think its interesting how she is so concerned with lighting the candles.
I feel like it obviously wasn't a big deal before or she wouldn't be sitting calmly.
Why doesn't she just enjoy the time she has with him rather than being concerned with getting a simple task done.
I like this one a lot.
